A list of features for Class-D to widen gameplay outside of tests and rioting

The point of this topic is to suggest things that would provide some sort of gameplay outside of the generic “rioting or wait an hour for a test” system that’s been around for a while. Most of it is similar but provides some form of compensation for doing it instead of using gym equipment that doesn’t do anything. My main goal is to sort of centralize these things at the main area for CDs, the guard line, so that they are easy to find and provide something for them to do while they wait for a test if their goal isn’t rioting

173 Chamber cleaning - Every now and then, Combative gets a prompt that 173’s chamber needs cleaning, or it will decay slowly and the gates will malfunction because he’s a dirty boy. CDs are then taken there to clean the chamber, and they receive something for doing the job. This could also be expanded to cleaning other areas of the site that could need it such as SCP 610 or maybe even ferns palace.

Cell cleaning - When the sleep schedule ends some cells will be filled with rubbish that CDs can put into a trash can. Each item binned is 5 credits.

Washing - Move the wash room in the back of the cell block to the guard line similar to how the cafe has been placed and add a mechanic that allows CDs to wash dirty jumpsuits. Some financial reward is given for this

Lower observation meeting room - the room under observation has no purpose so change it into a two sided room with one being for FP and one being for CDs. The glass will be fortified so CDs cant escape through it but instead allows for interactions between civils and CDs. It can be accessible for FP through upper observation and for CDs it will just be a matter of going up to the glass.

Testing interest - With the removal of the queuing system we could add a button that work similarly to the DFSC tag CDs get but instead it show something like “Test Ready” or something. It makes it so that CDs who want to be tested have a higher chance of doing so while those that don’t wont need to say so when they’ve been cuffed.

Trash sorting area - Similar idea to the suggestion made about cleaning cells but this would be a proper system with conveyor belts and large bins for sorting junk. This would be a room near the guard line again and would only be activated once a CD engages with the conveyor belt. They will need to sort the trash into its proper bin and not doing so will give no rewards but doing so will provide 5 credits per trash. They may even find a gun or something else in the trash that they can hold onto but has a low chance of appearing so it isn’t giving guns out every 3 pieces of rubbish. Once the CD leaves the conveyor system the system will stop itself.

i feel like cell cleaning, washing, and trash sorting aren’t really going to help at all since mining already exists for credits
and there’s no real reason to do those tasks outside of getting credits, so there’s basically no reason to do them instead of mining

173 chamber cleaning and lower observation has actually been tried before by paragon
lower observation was kinda useless, but 173 chamber cleaning did provide something for CDs to do
although in paragon the only real reason to do it more than twice was the credits since it gave an insane amount of them

i think it’s a better idea to work on making it so staying at the GL waiting for tests isn’t really punished like how it is now with sleep, uproar, lockup, crossfire, etc
then you add incentives to stay

I think there should be alternatives to mining, as many believe it is repetitive, and boring, along with that the more conversation about making a correct feature is made the longer it actually takes for features to be added, which is why I think adding anything for Class-D gameplay would be great since it’s quite literally completely dry right now besides rioting and testing.

I’d say one of the best ways to make the game more fun would be having AI SCPs to take over (some cleanroom SCPs only) for very short tests to provide a substitute while the Anomaly Actors are not available.

I really like this idea! There really needs to be way more things for CDs to have.

i mean all of these tasks are repetitive and boring
i don’t think it will add much gameplay wise for CD outside of having a new way to get credits
and i’ll be real, in mining you can still sorta have fun if you do it in a group at deep caverns. you still can interact with stuff, move around, and the ores can make things unique. (although mining definitely is still very boring)
with this stuff, it quite literally is doing the exact same thing over and over again, without any real change

trash sorting could actually make a gameplay difference for f2p CDs though, as they can now get guns without spending credits

Obviously they are but I think allowing variety is good for the game and it’s more fun instead of spam clicking ores, coming from someone who enjoys mining.
