As the title says, I think SCP 409 should be reworked. Now, I do not know if MaD has already got plans for this, but this is just a suggestion, I am throwing this out there so the SCP can be testable, breachable, and unique. So, to make 409 unique compared to 009 is by having two – three different stages of infection.
I get this might seem unnecessary, but I just thought of more of a testable SCP for ScD to see how each stage would work or other little quirks. For CDs to have an easier time trying to spread this SCP if they wanted. And just to make this less of a boring touch u die sort of thing (like 035). Also just to make it unique from SCP 009 as they are very similar SCPs.
The first stage!
The first stage is when you first come in contact with the SCP. As it is right now you just slowly turn too crystal then die.
With my idea, crystals will slowly form on the part of the body that touched it. These crystals will slowly appear all over the body. With this you will be able to run, walk and use your tools like normal, while also having the same amount of health.
To spread the crystal in this form it would have to physically touch the other person. This way it is balanced enough for the fact you can use your tools.
This process may take up to 3-5 minutes allowing enough time to spread. After reaching this time (It could also be randomized), it will move to stage 2.
Stage 2
Stage 2 is like SCP 009 as you become zombie like creature. Your body is now becoming more crystalized like how the body turns into one with the current 409 as you are slower than normal walking speed. However, you are still faster than SCP 009 instances, but you also would have less health. You would lose the ability to use your tools but like 009 you can melee attack other people.
To spread the crystal in this form I personally think it could be half the radius of 009 infection range (As 009 has a large range), but for lore wise it could still be physical touch as once again you’re still moving faster than a 009 instance. This stage could take 1 to 2 minutes to complete moving to stage 3.
Stage 3
Stage 3 is essentially the end, you’re stuck in place and can’t move, and your health would slowly drain. In this stage as it states in the SCP wiki the crystal starts crack and shatter. Once your health is low, like in the lore of this SCP it could explode spreading the crystal to other people in the area. As you’re stuck in place and about to explode the only way you can infect other people would be if they physically touched you still, until you explode, and everyone gets hit in the radius.
What about when you die with 409?
With that being the end of the stages stage 3 could maybe happen when someone dies while being infected with 409. The body would stay there a bit longer than normal and finally explode hitting everyone nearby, or if anyone touched it spread it once more.
